Empowering students in adverse environments
When Nadia worked in Brownsville in New York she helped children from underprivileged communities learn. Despite the challenges of violence and poverty, she focused on teaching leadership skills, enabling students to advocate for themselves. Project-based learning empowered students to take ownership and think critically. Nadia supported a student who transformed his behaviour and succeeded academically. Adapting education to students’ struggles and making learning relevant to their lives can leave a lasting impact on their futures.
